DRDO Conclave Empowers MSMEs for UP Defence Industrial Corridor

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth | SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

Ministry of Defence MoD | Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises MSME | Government of Uttar Pradesh

On 6 September 2025, the Defence Technology and Test Centre (DTTC) in Lucknow hosted a DRDO-organised conclave at its Amausi Campus to onboard MSMEs and startups into Defence R&D and production, supporting the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor. Over 100 participants, including startups, MSMEs, and members of Laghu Udyog Bharti, engaged on topics such as skill development, R&D funding, technical consultancy, and technology transfer. In his address, the DRDO Chair highlighted DTTC as a vision of the Raksha Mantri, emphasizing that this is an opportune moment for MSMEs to contribute to Aatmanirbharta, leading towards Viksit Bharat by 2047. The conclave also affirmed DRDO’s commitment to industry-centric support for MSMEs in defence manufacturing.

Relevant question for policy stakeholders: How can government agencies institutionalise regular DRDO–MSME engagements, through capacity-building, shared infrastructure, and streamlined funding, to ensure sustained participation of small enterprises in defence R&D and corridor development?
