Hindustan Copper Introduces Group Personal Accident Policy and Common Uniform for Employees

SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being | SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

Ministry of Mines MoMines

On 16 September 2025, Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Mines, announced new employee welfare measures. HCL introduced a Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy that provides ₹20 lakh coverage for contractual workers while on duty, and up to ₹40 lakh through partnerships with SBI, IOB, and other banks under Corporate Salary Packages. For regular employees, HCL has launched a landmark insurance scheme in collaboration with SBI, offering ₹1 crore coverage (on-duty and off-duty) under its Corporate Salary Package. Alongside, HCL rolled out a common uniform across all units and offices to foster inclusivity, unity, and a shared corporate identity as the “Copper Miner of India.”

By enhancing social security and fostering an inclusive workplace culture, this initiative reflects how CPSEs can extend welfare measures beyond compliance to build safety nets for contractual workers and strengthen employee morale. It demonstrates how corporate practices in the mining sector can align with national priorities of worker well-being, equality, and inclusive growth.
