Ministry of Defence MoD

The Indian Navy received its first indigenously designed and constructed Diving Support Craft (DSC A20), which was delivered by M/s Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL) in Kolkata. The contract for five of these vessels was signed on February 12, 2021. The DSC A20 is a catamaran hull vessel with a displacement of approximately 380 tons and is equipped with state-of-the-art diving equipment for coastal water operations. The design and construction of the vessel adhered to the Indian Register of Shipping rules and regulations.

The delivery of the DSC A20 is a significant milestone for the Government of India's 'Make in India' initiative, demonstrating the nation's growing self-reliance and technological prowess in defense shipbuilding. This also highlights a strategic focus on bolstering the Indian Navy's capabilities through domestic manufacturing.
