The Union Minister for Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, reviewed the rapid progress of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (HSR) project in Ahmedabad, emphasizing that the project is on track for timely completion. The Minister visited the terminal Sabarmati HSR Station and the 84-hectare HSR Rolling Stock Depot, which will handle light and heavy maintenance for the trainsets. Structural progress is significant, with 325 km of viaduct and 400 km of pier work already completed out of the 508 km corridor. The project embodies the vision for world-class infrastructure and a ‘Viksit Bharat at 2047.’
This large-scale infrastructure push is a key developmental and governance project, showcasing both technological ambition (HSR) and a commitment to sustainable urban planning through the integration of green infrastructure (solar panels, rainwater harvesting) and seamless multimodal transport.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders: How will the Ministry of Railways ensure timely land acquisition and regulatory clearances for the remaining 183 km stretch of the HSR corridor?
