Ministry of Culture Wraps Up Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign to Enhance Heritage Site Sanitation

From 17 September to 2 October 2025, the Ministry of Culture conducted the Swachhta Hi Seva (SHS) campaign across its 43 organizations and cultural institutions, integrating public cleanliness, awareness, and community engagement actions. Key achievements include 260 Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) transformed, 39 public spaces cleaned, and 977 Safai Mitras receiving support via health camps and sanitation kits. Advocacy events - such as “Say No to Single Use Plastic” drives, Swachhta rallies, and waste-to-art workshops - were used to amplify public participation. The initiative also held plantation and community service drives under the “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Sath” scheme.

What is Swachhta Hi Seva? → A nationwide multi-stakeholder campaign conducted annually by the Government of India to promote cleanliness, sanitation, and public awareness through local drives and institutional participation.
