The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) has confirmed a 17-month target date, ending 7 January 2027, for concluding its investigation into alleged patent infringements by imported mobile cellular communications devices. The probe, initiated on 7 August 2025, stems from a complaint filed by Pantech Corporation (Republic of Korea) alleging violations under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930. The complaint targets several global firms, including OnePlus, Lenovo, Motorola, TCL, Tinno, and HMD Global, citing infringement of four U.S. patents. The final initial determination is expected by 4 September 2026. The Office of Unfair Import Investigations has also been named as a party. The Commission’s decision not to review the administrative law judge’s initial determination signals that the case will proceed on the set timeline.
